All answers to our cross-country skiing course
Who is private cross-country skiing instruction suitable for?
Our private lessons are suitable for all ages and ability levels. Whether you’re stepping onto cross-country skis for the first time or want to improve your technique. Individuals as well as families, couples or small groups benefit from personalised coaching.
Which cross-country skiing techniques are taught?
You can learn both Classic and Skating or specifically improve your existing technique. Beginners start with Classic; advanced skiers can choose between Classic and Skating.
I am an absolute beginner. Is private instruction useful?
Yes, beginners in particular benefit greatly from private lessons. Your cross-country ski instructor will explain the basics step by step and structure the lesson so you feel confident from the start. This usually helps you learn much faster and avoid typical mistakes that are difficult to correct later on.
What are Classic and Skating?
Classic and Skating are the two cross-country skiing techniques.
Classic is the traditional technique, where you ski in a groomed track. It’s especially suitable for beginners and teaches the fundamentals of cross-country skiing.
Skating is the more athletic and dynamic technique. You move forward on a prepared skating track with a sideways, ice-skating motion. This technique requires solid basic skills and some experience in cross-country skiing.
I already have experience, can I still learn something new?
Absolutely. Even advanced cross-country skiers can significantly improve their technique. Even small adjustments to the glide phase, pole use or body position often lead to more speed, better endurance and noticeably less effort. That’s why our private lessons are ideal for ambitious athletes and regular cross-country skiers.
How many people can book private lessons together?
The base price applies to 1 to 2 people. Additional participants can be added for an extra charge, provided they have a similar ability level.
Do all participants need to have the same skill level?
To ensure everyone benefits as much as possible, we recommend a similar level for all participants. If there are very large differences, we’ll be happy to advise you before you book.
Where does cross-country skiing instruction take place?
Private lessons take place on one of the cross-country trails in the Tuxertal. In all five villages in Tux, you can choose from various entry points. Simply select your preferred meeting point when booking. If you have any questions or are unsure, our team will be happy to help.
Can I switch between Classic and Skating?
Switching between Classic and Skating is not possible within a single lesson. Beginners with no cross-country experience start with Classic lessons. Advanced cross-country skiers can choose between Classic and Skating.
Do I need my own cross-country skiing equipment?
No. If you don’t have your own equipment, you can easily rent it on site at the sports shops.
What clothing is suitable for cross-country skiing?
We recommend breathable sportswear in layers, as well as gloves, a hat or headband, and sports glasses. Clothing that’s too warm is usually less comfortable, as cross-country skiing is a very intense endurance sport. We also recommend bringing warm, dry clothes to change into after the lesson.
Is cross-country skiing also suitable for children?
Yes. Children can be introduced to cross-country skiing playfully from a young age. Our private instructors tailor the lessons to the child’s age, keep them varied, and make sure there’s lots of fun in movement.
Is cross-country skiing difficult to learn?
Most beginners make noticeable progress in the very first lesson. With the right guidance, you’ll learn movement patterns much faster and more safely. Especially in private lessons, mistakes can be corrected immediately, so learning success is usually much greater than teaching yourself.
